Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of High Performance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
