The second-hand marketplace Users Share Anger Over Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
